A new Centrally sponsored scheme namely, National Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) has been launched by the Government of India in August 2021 subsuming the existing NFSM-OP scheme. The new scheme is applicable for all States/UTs and funding pattern will be in the ratio of GoI 60:40 State for Rest of India and 90:10 for North Eastern States.
The Mission proposes to cover an additional 6.5 lakh hectares under Oil Palm by the year 2025-26. The Government of India has substantially increased the subsidies for the ongoing components and inputs required for the Oil Palm cultivation, with immediate effect and also cover the farmers who have already undertaken cultivation.
